A one way footbridge is bridging the inhabitant of each country to what they care on the other side. People are steping on their bridge overlooking the second one. It seems to be a mirror of their act. The movement of the bridges creats empty spaces in the three dimensions ; people might realize the gap created. Going down on the foreign side will set off time to mix.

mini-project bridging Görlitz and Zgorzelec

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

There used to be 7 bridges in Zgorzelec and Görlitz, now there are two … we are proposing another third one.

After our talks to the locals  and analysis we noticed that there is not really that there is alreay a lot of exchange planned but somehow due to burocrathy and lack of interest, the exchange seems a bit forced. “Polish people come for dm and Aldi; we go there for petrol, cigarettes and sex” said one German to us.

Well what do you propose as an architect / urban designer than? Shall we produce a satirical image or some productive criticism or force people to fuse?

The students are up to design whatever they feel fits the best. All together we found a place suitable for another bridge. It is on the German side, the former textile factory, than condenser station and since the 80s empty.
